Can you actually fake it?

I used to be all about “Fake it till you make it”. If I wanted something, I’d just shift my energy and behavior like I’ve already achieved that. But did I really?

In my meditation today I reflected on this widely spread motto. I realized that faking it essentially means not being it. It’s an artificial timeline that one creates for herself where authenticity doesn’t really belong. Faking it means just acting as if, and living in a sand castle. It’s not about earning the way up to the desired goal, it’s about pretending that it already happened. Yes, the reality around you might adapt to this newly acquired sense of being something you’re not so you might start to believe that this “Fake it till you make it”actually works. Faking it, pretending, acting as if… do those things represent reality, or just a wishful thinking? How can something be truly real and authentic if one just fabricates the experience?

From my, and I guess also from your experience, this simulated reality doesn’t last long. Something goes off and suddenly, the sand castle disappears into thin air. You can’t fake it anymore and you need to start all over again.

Yet, how can I explain those instances when it actually worked? I realized that I was not faking it. I was *becoming* it. That implies earning my way to the desired goal. It means accepting the path and realizing that I am not there — I am only on the way there. That puts me in a different experience as when I earn something, it cannot be taken away.

That time when I became hot by working out and adopting the healthy lifestyle instead of just faking it…

Let’s take an example of the common desired outcome — becoming strong and fit. Okay okay, who am I kidding? it’s about the superficial goal of looking and feeling attractive. I can start emanating this “I am hot” vibration. It changes my frequency and many can start seeing that my charisma goes up, that I do look more attractive. However, if I was just faking it, I would have to consciously focus on radiating that energy. And that is not always possible as my mind drifts and shifts and let’s face it, I also wake up with the wrong foot sometimes. So when I am not faking it, I am not it. Needless to say that my strength, flexibility and fitness cannot be faked at all. On the other hand, when I am consciously becoming it, I am accepting that I need to earn that goal. I need to regularly work on coding my mind to radiate feeling attractive and to actually work out, do yoga, or any kind of exercise to literally become hot (read fit, strong, flexible, and radiating feminine confidence).

Earning the way to the desired goal also brings humility in the game. It teaches patience and resilience. And once earned, it cannot be taken away from you. Aversely, faking it just inflates the ego and builds an artificial space where your true self doesn’t really exist. We all know what happens to dreams that are not rooted in reality — they don’t manifest and stay being just the dreams. Coming to think of it, faking it is actually the first step of becoming it in sense of setting the mind and the energy. The difference is in the follow-through with consistent actions and behavior.

Conclusively, the instances when I thought that “fake it till you make it” works were in fact instances, when I “became it” and just labeled it wrongly.

*Becoming it* brings lasting results and expands on your authentic self. In the world of fake people, the authentic ones are the ones who actually make it.

What are you going to choose for your next goal?
